Hanson had his first solo show at 18 in Minneapolis over 40 years ago and in the meantime has had 11 solo shows , the last was April 29 at Marlboro contemporary NYC called “Two of Years of Bluto”.
The three paintings here are very recent and the continuation of the fight clouds that he started painting for the Marlborough show. They end up being perfect representation of the inner turmoil that we can feel, the battles that the artist constantly wages with himself.
Hanson has worked in a variety of mediums including photography, drawing and sculpture with no formal training. He taught myself how to paint in Paris in 2006 during a residency at Cite des Arts and has shown in Museums and galleries all over the world including Museum of Modern Art/PS1, Marianne Boesky, Derek Eller, Frank Elbaz and among others.
