The All in Our Head Series at AOS Galerie are a series of drawings Rorschach inspired and, much like a nonverbal version of Rorschach’s diagnostic system, the artist uses blots before her , and responds by drawing into them, making small or much broader interventions. There is a sense of immediacy in this action that’s allows the artist to work intuitively and fluidly. Each response is unique, yet subcategories of imagery emerge which reveal personal preoccupations sometimes, funny, disturbing and provocative. Nissen is also an organizer/ curator in several large scaled interdisciplinary art events. She lives in New York where she works as a scenic artist for the entertainment industry and maintains a studio in Sunset Park. She received an MFA in painting from Tyler School of Art in 1998, and a BA from Middlebury College in 1990.
